Mummification Lab
The Lab
For this lab, you will be exploring the mummification process by mummifying an apple.
Start by listening while Mr. Chambers discusses the instructions. When we are finished, open the Showbie assignment labeled Mummification Lab and wait for Mr. Chambers instructions.
As you know, Ancient Egypt is famous for the process of mummifying their dead in order to preserve their bodies for the afterlife. Through the mummification of apples, we will learn how to embalm and preserve something. Remember, the process of mummification was often reserved for the rich. The rest of us were just buried in the sand. By the end of our lab, we will be able to compare a preserved apple to an apple left to decay naturally in the open air. While you are mummifying your apple, you will be required to fill out a lab report which shows how your apple changes throughout the lab.
